The Department of State Hospitals Napa is looking for a  Nurse Instructor  to join us in training employees who provide excellent evaluations and treatment to California's most vulnerable population-those struggling with severe mental illness. 

Must have fullfiled  legal requirements to practice as a professional nurse in California as determined by the California Board of Registered Nurses. Please review the Minimum Qualifications for  Nurse Instructor (8154) - CalHR .

1. You must complete the STD. 678 Employment Application and include complete work experience and all duties performed with Supervisor’s name and Contact information.  

1. Attach a copy of licensure to practice as a professional nurse in California as determined by the California Board of Registered Nurses.

1. Attach a copy of proof of degree and transcripts if education is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications. Foreign transcripts must be verified through a credentialing evaluation service and submitted with application STD. 678. 

If applicable, you must include copies of any documents that will support you meet the minimum qualifications for this classification (e.g. Training and Development Assignment or out-of-class experience approved and documented in your Department’s Personnel Office).

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Desirable qualifications include DSD certification, experience working in skilled nursing, teaching in a community college psychiatric technician training program, additional teaching credentials, and/or a BSN/Master's degree, training and development assignment and two years recent experience in psychatric nursing.

Training and Development (T&D) Assignments

Training and Development (T&D) assignments may be considered for this position. T&D assignments are temporary assignments made for the purposes of providing career advancement opportunities to prepare permanent civil service employees for future promotions into new occupational fields. Please indicate your interest on the application.
